That system doesn't have hashes in place, because that system doesn't exist yet. I was simply pointing out that such a system would require file verification.DeFender1031https://www.blogger.com/profile/01768211617800867459noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-833174317742362874.post-59196044643255299682009-10-26T11:56:16.793-07:002009-10-26T11:56:16.793-07:00yashar HaKodesh:

Flash 10 already supports a peer-to-peer network -RTMFP (Real-Time Media Flow Protocol)- many sites already use it will bandwidth heavy media files. And Flash can communicate with JavaScript. So you can have a flash applet that downloads from the peer-to-peer network and then using javascript writes the output to the page. Are there any Flash programmers interested in trying this?yashar HaKodeshhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04395893715445823639noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-833174317742362874.post-48189490199602708272009-10-25T15:46:03.914-07:002009-10-25T15:46:03.914-07:00@Dan: Bittorrent already does the hash-verify thi...@Dan: Bittorrent already does the hash-verify thing to deal with the idea of people injecting bad data, so I don't think it would be a problem unless an insecure hash is used.<br /><br />However the problem I see with this idea is that ISPs are more and more trying to apply transfer caps -- so customers will be very wary of enabling something that may cost them money in overage fees.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09291685669504636802noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-833174317742362874.post-30357340995449593652009-10-25T12:24:15.635-07:002009-10-25T12:24:15.635-07:00I'd be concerned about the security of the fil...I'd be concerned about the security of the files you're getting from an IP, as they could replace a segment with new data and flub the metadata to look the same, so it seems like you'd have to have the source send back a series of hashes in the header, and then hash-check all files not recieved from the source.DeFender1031https://www.blogger.com/profile/01768211617800867459noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-833174317742362874.post-29263158286922880592009-10-25T12:16:26.452-07:002009-10-25T12:16:26.452-07:00Send your idea to the guys at mozilla.
